One of my favorite places are the rimrocks bordering the northern edge of my home town of Billings, Montana. “The Rims” are a sweet refuge for local outdoor adventure junkies, sporting miles of running trails, countless climbing crags, and a killer system of serpentine bike trails and slickrock that resemble places you might expect to find in popular destinations like Utah or western Colorado. After a well-spent evening of after-work rock climbing, I shot this solitary juniper pine overlooking the glow of city lights shining from several hundred feet below this popular climbing spot.
