About the Photographer

Glacier NP 20140802-504Jeff Handlin

I grew up hiking in the Beartooth Mountains of Montana and developed a love for nature and art from an early age.  It was in adulthood when I discovered backpacking and received my first digital camera as a gift.  Since then, photography has taken me to the tops of the highest mountains in Montana, Wyoming, and the surrounding region.  As people have responded to my work, I’ve begun to realize a sense of purpose in capturing the imagination of a growing audience.  I started the Handlin Photo Journal to introduce more people to nature so they become advocates for its conservation.  If the content on this site has inspired you to visit these places, or to venture out into your own corner of the world closer to home, then I’ve succeeded in my goal.   Thanks for reading!   — Jeff
