Weatherman Draw – May 4, Part One

This gallery is a selection I assembled from an austere day trip hiking around the Weatherman Draw area this past weekend.  Foggy, blank skies and irregular sandstone features lent themselves to some interesting black and white landscapes.  The diffuse light was also perfect for capturing many of the freshly blooming prairie wildflowers that are beginning to pop up everywhere this time of year.   Those photos can be viewed in Part Two of this post.

Hellroaring Fog

Beartooth Falls 20130915-001

A misty morning fog rises from the valley below Hellroaring Plateau after a night of refreshing rain on the Beartooth Pass south of Red Lodge.  Further up the pass, the road rises to over 10,000 feet, and we encountered even heavier fog and extremely poor visibility on what would become the final driveable weekend of Summer 2013.
